ILM Art Dept Work

I've been working the past two years in the ILM Art Dept. Will post more work when able.

This was a fun one! The direction given for the "Fog Monster" was to make it look like it could have been an old school foam rubber arm puppet.....akin to the ESB Space Slug. Digital Maquette sculpted with Maya & ZBrush.

Worked on this one late in post prod. A camera had already been solved from the live action plate, so I was able to model directly to camera and share my geo with the Generalist Dept that executed the background.

Many of the screens in the film are practical, but several had to feature plot points and assets that weren't solidified until after the live action shoot. To stay in the style of Star Wars, I researched old vector monitors and 70's graphic design. .

Not 100% sure if this idea was abandoned or not, but one direction given on this piece was to include animal designs into the rock formations.
